The Bad Beginning
The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket is 162 pages. It is about the 3 Baudelaire children who lose their parents in a fire that burned down their house, and must go live with a distant relative named Count Olaf. Count Olaf schemes to marry the oldest sister Violet so he can inherit their enormous inheritance, but he is thwarted in the end.
