Run, Boy, Run

Bryan 20
How many people today know what it is like to run for their lives?
Run, Boy, Run by Uri Orlev is 186 pages.  The book follows the story of Srulik, who changes his name to Jurek Staniak.  Jurek escapes  the Warsaw ghetto and suffers many hardships during his struggle to survive.  After a year, there are at last some happy moments for him.  Pani Rappaport, a lady from a Jewish children’s home, takes him to see his old neighborhood where he used to live.  Afterwards, she takes Jurek to his kindly last “guardians” so he can say one last goodbye before he goes into the Jewish children’s home.  At the end of the book, he has grown up and become a teacher.  He is also married with children.  Jurek stayed brave and strong throughout his quest to survive.  I enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading more of Uri Orlev’s works.
